Sally the Witch (1966)

Sally the Witch (魔法使いサリー, *Mahōtsukai Sally*) is the pioneering magical-girl anime that aired from 1966 to 1968, produced by Toei Animation. Directed by Toshio Katsuta and featuring early involvement from Hayao Miyazaki, it follows a young witch princess from the Magic Kingdom who comes to Earth and befriends human children. With its blend of whimsy, heart, and imaginative storytelling, it helped define the magical-girl genre. The series includes 109 episodes in total, and the first 60 are listed here.
