Ocean Waves (1993)
Presentation: Ocean Waves (海がきこえる, Umi ga Kikoeru), also known as I Can Hear the Sea, is a Japanese animated television film produced by Studio Ghibli. First aired in 1993 on Nippon TV, it was directed by Tomomi Mochizuki. The story follows Taku Morisaki as he recalls his high school days and the complicated friendship and romance that developed when a new transfer student, Rikako Muto, arrived from Tokyo. This coming-of-age tale delicately portrays the bittersweet emotions of youth, change, and first love.
