Animal Treasure Island (Japanese: Dōbutsu Takarajima) is a 1971 Japanese animated comedy-adventure film loosely inspired by Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic novel Treasure Island. Produced by Toei Animation, the story follows Jim, a young boy who sets out to find treasure with the help of his friend Gran and an assortment of anthropomorphic animal pirates. The film is renowned for its wild humor, slapstick action, and imaginative set pieces. Hayao Miyazaki served as key animator and concept artist, contributing some of the film’s most energetic and inventive sequences.
