Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves (Japanese: Ali Baba to Yonjūppiki no Tōzoku) is a 1971 Japanese animated adventure film produced by Toei Animation. Loosely based on the famous Middle Eastern folk tale from One Thousand and One Nights, the story follows Ali Baba, a kind-hearted woodcutter who discovers the secret treasure of a gang of forty thieves. Using his courage and wit, he must protect the treasure and his loved ones from the ruthless bandits. Hayao Miyazaki contributed as a key animator, adding fluid and dynamic motion to several action scenes.
