The Great Adventure of Horus, Prince of the Sun (Japanese: Taiyō no Ōji: Horusu no Daibōken) is a 1968 Japanese animated fantasy adventure directed by Isao Takahata and produced by Toei Animation. The story follows Horus, a brave boy who, after retrieving the Sword of the Sun, sets out to protect his village from the evil ice demon Grunwald. This landmark film is celebrated for its complex characters and themes, and it was one of Hayao Miyazaki’s earliest major projects as a key animator and scene designer.
